I believe carbon is overhyped for the club level player and all wood blades are a better choice for most amateur players, unless you lack the physical strength to create speed.

depends on your level but if you do not di much competition, an all wood blade is enough.
If you are not playing competitively how does it matter ? You can use a Liha racket
Since PooHooYoo is talking aboot carbon one safely assume it is about competitive players?

ypu do not need a very fast blade.
Table tennis is first and foremost a sport of spins not speed though speed is a significant factor but not for beginners

Anyway the question by PooHooYoo itself is wrong because I think he meant to ask "Are composite blades even necessary" .
Therefore I can also safely assume neither PooHooYoo nor yogi_bear clearly understand the difference between carbon & other composite materials (both carbon content & non carbon)

There are 2 schools of thought on this among coaches
Composite materials including carbon provide a large sweet spot & this is an important factor for most beginners.
Therefore I think beginners should always start with a composite material blade.
The confusion comes from yogi_bear incorrectly assuming that all carbon blades are fast.
This may be only true for high end carbon blades
Also almost all new blades are not pure carbon but some composite weaves of carbon such as AL or ZLC etc.
There are lots of Chinese beginner carbon or composite material blades that are not fast so they are good enough for beginners
But most coaches try to sell beginners a $200 to $400 blades on Day 1 which are more of status symbols than having any functional utility
