Recent complaints by Manika Batra may be the straw that broke the camel's back
Though the Kamlesh Mehta rift was a major issue as well
As far as Manika's complaint goes , there will always be someone who is unhappy.
At least Manika did not sue TTFI like it happened with 3 other players last time LOL
Setting the criteria itself is quite difficult because again someone will be always left out & unhappy.
The cutoff was set at 50 &Manika came at 51
Should the cutoff been then the top 2 ranked players rather than a finite hard cut off at 50 ?
May be may be not
Also the domestic participation requirement complicates things
One could say these top two players should also compete domestically but if they are able to hold their own internationally , I don't see why they should bother
It is a no win situation for the selectors
But the (happy) problem is that there are so many good young players nowadays on women's side
And recently on men's' side as well with Kamal retired & Sathiyan not holding his end

Re: The drama never ends with TTFI (Table Tennis Federation of India)
Manika is in a tough position
Ever since her rise in 2018 , she has a target on her back in more ways than one.
Pips haters were determined to finish her but thankfully it did not work since 1000s of her clones will keep her legacy alive
She needs to consider more ways to diversify her arsenal and become even more unpredictable
Maybe switch to a half chopper / half blocker model & twiddling even more and even chopping a lost using pips on the forehand
More players know here style not only because of only her but due to be able to play against 1000s of Manika clones at every level
