Current Setup: timo boll alc inverted max sponge both sides. All around attacker that has good serve and 3rd ball but tend to use consistency/placement with less power in rallies. Often incorporate forehand chop or backhand lob to recover if off table out of position.
Switching to oversized wood blade, h3neo forehand, dawei 388d-1, .6 sponge backhand.
I am about as good as I hoped to be but like to see ball do cool stuff and enjoy interesting points. Game is feeling less interesting with super direct topspin play and I enjoy the transitioning in and out from table and want to bring a new playstyle to the club.
For those that have done the switch:
What drills and practice regimen do you recommend for this big change to get good ASAP?
I will likely develop twiddle attacks from backhand in time but want to get good foundation under me before I confuse the matter too much.
Lot of players think they can easily become a modern defender and have no clue about the level of athleticism needed to pull this off.
Not to mention the enormous technical sociological etc implications involved in making this switch.
Most of them go back to trying to be a robotNazis and badmouthing pips
BTW do you even know what "oversized" means to start with
