Have you noticed the number of amateur penholders who probably do not even know what a loop means , are using dumb rackets with thick spinny inverted rubbers both sides.
Some of these players don't even execute RPH
Why are so many non-looping penholders using spinny inverted?

Re: Why are so many non-looping penholders using spinny inverted?
It sort of does because though a non-looping shakehander may still be better off using a smart racket with wide pips or medium pips forehand , a penholder would be in a much better position because penhold lends itself better for non-looping forehand hitting style than shakenhand .
Think about it.
There had been only two shakehanders at the highest level using wide pips forehand , Johnny Huang and Mattias Falck
But there had been many world champion penholders Zhuang Zedong , Jiang Jialiang & Liu Guoliang & some women including a Korean woman, the 1993 World Singles Champion
On the flip side , though the forehand loop using spinny inverted is still more lethal with penhold than shakehand , spinny inverted rubber is also a huge liability if you do not loop with it . A penhold spinny inverted block & hit is still much easier to return than coming from a wide pips hit or block as they are more dead. This is because almost everyone knows how to play against spinny inverted rubber since it is the most used rubber & one does not have to think or adjust when playing against it.

Re: Why are so many non-looping penholders using spinny inverted?
This is EXACTLY why spinny inverted rubber is a huge liability even as a forehand rubber if you never learned to loop when you started (as youth) or can no longer loop due to any number of health issues.
For such situations wide pimples with sponge is the obvious choice though for some payers even frictioned anti spin or some long pips may be a better choice. Therefore anything but spinny inverted
