Head width vs Head length of a blade / racket

Post by Spin Monster »

I noticed head length is always more than head width.
I have seen all kinds of explanations over the years
I am not so sure

The sweet spot is moved towards the top edge of the racket.
For a looperor even a hitter this is more efficient

However this is not the most efficient shape for a defensive blade
Since the stroke mechanics for the chop are different
So the ideal shape is more towards the circular so oval shape is the best
But a (truly) oversized cybershape blade may work for a chopper because the higher wind drag can be reduced by shaving of extra real estate on the top side
